On Tuesday, our Bulldog Volleyball Teams plays an away match at North Cape. On Wednesday, we are at home versus Kansasville. The first volley starts at 5:20 p.m. Please cheer our teams to victory! GO BULLDOGS!
Once again, the Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Exams will be administered to students in Grades 3-8 during the coming weeks. Parents, please reinforce the importance of these exams with your children. Remember: “Do your best – on the test!”
The Wisconsin DPI recently released School Report Card scores for public schools in the state. Washington-Caldwell’s School Report Card score was a 77.9 or “Exceeds Expectations.” We moved up 5.9 points from our “Meets Expectations” score from last year! How did we accomplish this improvement? First of all, we are more focused on what we are doing at school each day. When I say “we” I mean teachers, support staff, AND students. We also: 1. Instituted M.A.P. testing that gives us additional data as to where our students are presently achieving and how we can assist students in improving performance; 2. Investigated how we use our time. For example, use of classroom instructional time, as well as recess time in Kindergarten through Grade 4; 3. Engaging students more by specifically doing a better job explaining the importance of standardized tests. Whether we like it or not, standardized testing is a part of our lives. (Some examples are WKCE, Smarter Balanced, PALS, AIMSweb, PSAT, SAT, ACT, ASVAB, GRE, GMAT, LSAT, etc., etc. Feel free to call me if you need an explanation as to what this alphabet soup means.). 4. This effort is year-round and not just at standardized testing time. Parent involvement is extremely important, too! This “School Report Card” is part of a new accountability system that Wisconsin has established. Several other states have moved in this direction, too. The purpose of the “School Report Card” is to give additional information as to how public schools in Wisconsin are doing in their efforts to help students grow. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 262-662-3466, ext. 161 or [email protected].
Thursday evening is our final Parent-Teacher Conference night. Conferences are from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
PTO “Fall Fest” will be held at school on Wednesday evening, October 29th from 6:30-8:00 p.m. This special activity is for students in 4K through Grade 5. Please attend! Thanks, PTO!
I again invite you to visit our website and click on “2014-2015 School-Wide Goals.” These school board adopted goals will keep us focused on improving student achievement in 2014-2015.
Let’s continue to work together to help make our school the very best for our young people! Thank you for your continued support!
GO BULLDOGS!
