4K/5K Parent Information Night for the 2015-16 school year will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. Any W-C parent having a son or daughter who will be four years old on or before September 1, 2015 is eligible for our 4K Program. Any W-C parent having a son or daughter who will be five years old on or before September 1, 2015 is eligible for our 5K Program. Know a parent of a Kindergarten-age child who is interested in attending W-C this coming school year? Please encourage them to attend our Kindergarten Information Night. The Open Enrollment window in Wisconsin is fast-approaching: February 2 thru April 30, 2015. If you know someone who would benefit from attending our great school, encourage this individual to contact me. I will be happy to speak to any interested parent, as well as provide a tour of W-C.
School Board Candidates. The filing deadline for the spring school board elections was January 6th on April 7th deadline and their names will appear on the April 7th ballot. There are two board seats – each for three year terms - up for election. Tim Szeklinski and Todd Galkowski submitted candidacy papers by the ballot.
Importance of Perfect Attendance - I can’t express my appreciation as to students, parents, and staff understanding the importance of perfect attendance. We all know that the flu virus has been strong this season, but our overall attendance has been very good. Continue to stay healthy! Once again, everyone’s attention to striving for perfect attendance is greatly appreciated. I ask parents to continue to dress your children appropriately. Also, please listen to area T.V. and radio stations for school closing information due to inclement weather. It’s Wisconsin!
Please drive safely at all times around school. Remember to wear seat belts at all times – seat belts save lives!
Please check out our information-packed website at washcald.com. Each week, I post a message called “Superintendent’s Bulletin Board” that can be accessed by clicking on Dr. P’s Weekly Message found on our homepage. I invite you to check out our 2014-15 school-wide goals. These goals can be found also be found on our homepage. Finally, while there, I encourage you to click on “Future Focus” to learn more about what we are accomplishing at school.
Your support for the students and staff at Washington-Caldwell is greatly appreciated!
P.S. This week, everyone is talking about the 1967 “Ice Bowl Game” between the Packers and the Cowboys. Yes, I’m a Bears fan, but I watched that game in the comfort of my parent’s home on the Southside of Chicago. And, what a game it was as Green Bay won 21-17 on December 31, 1967 in frigid -13 degree temperatures. But, are you aware that the previous year, the Packers also played the Cowboys for the NFL championship? That game was played in Dallas on January 1, 1967 in 40 degree temperatures. The Cowboys fell behind early, 14-0, but managed to rally and the game was in doubt until the very end. The Packers prevailed, winning 34-27. I also watched that game at home in Chicago. Yes, I am a Bears fan, but I have followed Green Bay throughout my life. I thought you might find this info interesting as the BIG GAME approaches.
GO BULLDOGS!
